WELCOME
If this is your first time visiting my site, welcome. Please take your time and look around at the unique Photography in each of the galleries.

The viewing Galleries (1-6) at this time contain exotic photographs of Peru, and Gallery (7) Color studio and location images, Gallery (8) contains photographs of the "Junkanoo" celebration in the Bahamas. In the near future the galleries will also contain photography of other places in South America, Latin America, and Portugal.

"INTO THE LIGHT, Faces of Peru" Galleries 1-6, For me these photographs represent more than just the exotic beauty of Peru. I see them as having historical and anthropological value of indian culture in Peru. I did not make them with that intention, but rather I looked at it as a purely artistic undertaking (a self assignment). Art is not only about pretty pictures, art should also inspire and cause one to think. However you choose to look at these photographs I hope they give you as much pleasure as they have given me.

"Colors of the Heart" in Gallery 7, is work that is more closely connected to my work day life as a commercial photographer. It's what most often pays the bills.

"Junkanoo" in Gallery 8, is a recent addition and is a small edit of (1) evenings photography during a celebration known as "Junkanoo" that takes place on the islands of the Bahamas. The photographs in this gallery were made on the island of New Providence, in the city of Nassua.

What I have tried to do with each of the photographic images captured by my camera is to not merely record, but rather through the photographic process of careful exposure, development, and finally the mastering of the finished Fine Art Print render the emotion of the moment as I felt it. For me producing a fine print that expresses my feeling about the subject will always far out weigh what ever value the photograph might have as a historical or journalistic document. Yet, they are documents, of places, landscapes and people that will not much longer remain as they are.

The technology that is at this very moment allowing you to see these photographs is also at least partly responsible for making every place on our planet, just like every other place. What will the world be like when we are all the same?

Hopefully these images and those made by others will make us think and preserve what we have. If not, then they will only be a record of what we have lost.

All the photography on this site is for sale, you can see the details in the "Galleries" and "Print Option" menu. I would like to make note of one thing, though all of the BLACK and WHITE photographs on display here are in WARM TONE PLATINUM, they are also all available in NEUTRAL TONE BLACK & WHITE as well. Please look in "PRINT OPTIONS" for a comparison.

Enjoy,

David P. Fleurant
